Marshrutka vans coming from Kazbegi are normally full by the time they reach Gudauri, so you can’t always get a seat. There are a handful of vans that originate in Gudauri and go to Tbilisi each day, departing from the highway near the Wissol Petrol Station, or from New Gudauri when the road up to the ski resort is clear. It’s a good idea to head down to the bus station the day before and ask about departure times, or if you’re staying at a guesthouse in Gudauri, have your host call the driver to save you a seat.
